Marking the
Shelve
 |
The
Cutting Process Begins...
( Left Photos
) The Logs are placed on a band saw for
cutting. They are a-lined so the log profile can
be cut out of the center section of the Log.
This process ensures that you get only the best parts
of the Log for your New Log Home Package. This
is the Flat-on-Flat Log ( They
are used in the section of the Home between all the
corner Logs ) such as doors & windows they
fill-in the wall space's between the corners.
The actual "Full Log" corners will be cut at
a later time. More photos to come below.

( Right Photos
) After the cutting has been done, the shelve is
established with red lines to show its location on the
Log. This is done to both sides of the Log to
maintain an accurate stacking of the Log at the job
site. Note that this shelve is 7" to
8"....giving you the best protection against the
elements... with a R-22 Factor in your Log
Walls! The Logs are then stacked until the
peeling process begins at a later time. This process will
repeat itself many times until the total number of
Logs for the package is completed. |

The Shelve in Red Lines

|
The
Peeling Process Begins...
We will now remove the excess log material from
the sides of the shelve... and Face of the Log.
We peel down
to the Red Lines
Leaving only the finished Shelve Intact....
Then the Profile Face of the Log is Peeled.

The Logs are placed on
log stickers to start the peeling process.
Log Wizards are used to
remove 95% of the excess Log material and reveal the shelve
location.

In the first phase of the
peeling process..... The shelve face is peeled ( see far
left photo ) Red Arrow

The Logs are rolled over
and the other side of the Logs are done in the same
mater.
Next the "Profile Face"
of the Log is now Peeled.

In the final phase of the
peeling process... Draw Knifes are used to do the
Final Peeling.
~
Special Log Notes ~
Our Logs are NOT touched
by any exterior "Machine Log Profilers" resulting
in every Log being exactly perfect. All
of our Logs are done by Hand - this is a time consuming
process - but we feel the end result is worth the
effort. Each Log will have its own
unique character, this is the way
nature grew the tree in the first place. As
a result your Log Home will "Look like a Log
Home"

The Half Log Siding Process
Begins...
Our 2"x 8"
Half Log Siding is Cut and the Peeling Process
Begins.....

First the Log Siding is
marked 1-1/2" for the Shelve Location....( see far left
photo ) Red Arrow

The Log Siding is Peeled
to the Shelve Line ~ Marked at 1-1/2"
wide for proper stacking ~
Log Wizards are used to
remove 95% of the excess Log material and reveal the shelve
location.

Next the Log
Siding "Profile Face" is Peeled

In the last phase of the
peeling process... Draw Knifes are used to do the
Final Peeling.

The Half Log Siding
with "Full Log Corners" Begins...
In this process we do
our typical Half Log Siding process as seen above..... But we leave the
Full Log Corner Intact!
Our Half Log Siding is used over a
typical stud wall construction such as.....Additions,
Garages, and Dormers.
Our Half Log Siding with
Full Corners can also be used to make-over a existing home.
See drawing below for details.
|

The Shelve
1-1/2"

Full Log
Corner (un-peeled)
|
Half Log Siding is Peeled
to the Shelve at 1-1/2"
wide
The Corner is cut leaving a
22" Full Round Log Overhang.
This allows the Butt-N-Pass Corner to pass over or
extend pass the matching corner. This
can be cut back to the desired length at the job
site...... Typically 16" to 18"
Then a 45% cut is made to
complete the outside corner.
